New River & Piney Creek Subdivisions (C&O)

Layout Description

Welcome to the New River & Piney Creek Subdivisions of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway. Although this layout only represents 3 miles of mainline trackage, it was a very busy stretch of the C&O in 1952. The visible portion of his layout goes from the east end of Stretchers Neck Tunnel at Prince, WV to the east end of the yard at Quinnimont WV and serves both the Piney Creek and Laurel Creek branch lines. Staging is provided at both the east and west ends of the mainline as well as for the Laurel Creek branch. Operating sessions feature yard operations at both Quinnimont and Raleigh (on the Piney Creek branch), coal operations along the Piney Creek Branch as well as thru and mixed freight operations.
