Burrlington Northern Seattle Region

Layout Description

This multi-deck proto-freelanced version represents the BN three years after the merger, when half the locomotive fleet was still not re-painted BN green. The modeled portion stretches from Bellingham in the north, Skykomish in the east, and South Seattle in the south, all connected by Delta Wye in Everett (WA). Operations include transcontinental freight and passenger trains, many locals, and switch jobs at most of the 8 modeled yards, as well as several branch lines and interchange operations with the MILW and UP. The layout is mostly completed, and hosts operating sessions with up to 15 operators. It also includes a dual-gage interchange with a fictitious extension of the 3-foot gage D&RGW to Everett, and a "Harbor Island" section built with Lego's called "Legotown". It was featured in a cover article by Paul Scoles in the January 2008 RMC.
