Baltimore & Ohio, Fairmont Division

Layout Description

B&O in the panhandle of West Virginia in the steam to diesel transition. Main commodity of the railroad is coal with mixed freights and some passenger operations.

The layout is a club sized layout around the wall with three peninsulas. Mountain railroading with a mainline from 36 inches to 54 inches above floor. Most turnouts are hand thrown with some hard to reach motorized.

Operators are responsible to route their train as the dispatcher directs.

There are some areas where there is industrial switching.
The layout was featured most recently in February 2018 Model Railroader Magazine. Also featured in Railroad Modelers 2004.

Some aisles are narrow and can become congested.

50% of my locomotives have sound. I appreciate it when sound is utilized so ring that bell and blow that whistle.
